Dr. Lauren Johnson has lived in Tulsa all of her life except for the eight years she spent in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University (for her undergraduate studies, as well as veterinary school). She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, and worked in a small animal practice for 10 years before getting hired at Hammond Animal Hospital in 2011. Now, with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Johnson has purchased the practice where she will bring her zest for life and her veterinary skills to every animal she treats. Her main interests are medicine and preventative care. She lives in Tulsa with her blended family of five comprised of her boyfriend, Wayne, and their three children, Ellery, Ike, and Gage. Lauren’s family wouldn’t be complete without her furry children—four dogs (Clyde, Mabel, Otis, and Baby) and three cats (Hody, Frank, and Marigold). When not working, she enjoys going to concerts, music festivals, theater of all varieties, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Dennis Henson
Dr Dennis Henson and his wife of over 40 years live on a tiny farm in Tulsa with several dogs, cats, horses, and a llama. They are blessed with a full family of sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. His important things in life are faith, family, and a lot of fun at work doing surgery. He graduated veterinary school in 1975 from Oklahoma State University (no it was not still Oklahoma A&M then). His primary focus at Hammond Animal Hospital is surgery. He appreciates all the support of his clients and staff, and is looking forward to the future.
Dr. David Bailey
Dr. Bailey was born and raised in Tulsa. Both his father and grandfather are veterinarians, so he has been immersed in veterinary medicine from the start. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. After graduating from veterinary school he practiced emergency medicine in Tulsa for a year and a half before coming to work for Hammond Animal Hospital. Dr. Bailey’s main interest is surgery, both soft tissue and orthopedic. He lives in Jenks with his wife (a former veterinary school classmate), their daughter and two pugs. When not working, his hobbies include firearms, woodwork and gardening.
Chris has been with Hammond Animal Hospital since March 2012 as a Veterinary Assistant. He has spent most of his life working with animals as a milker at a dairy goat farm, a kennel technician for the Humane Society, bathing and trimming dogs and cats at a grooming salon, and graduating from horseshoeing school. When he’s not cuddling puppies and kittens or trimming toenails he can be found spending time with his dog Chloe, two cats – Sig and Kaylee – or drawing.
Sky has been with Hammond Animal Hospital since December 2013 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She was born and raised around a ranch life. Sky was very active in sports and 4-H activities. She has worked with animals ever since she was itty bitty. She graduated from high school in 2009 and finished the Veterinary Technician program in 2011. In August of 2011 she became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has worked in the veterinary world for the last 8 years!
In her free time, you can find her supporting the Oklahoma Monarchs Semi Pro football team, running, kayaking, or dancing the night away.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Haley has worked at Hammond since April 2016. She graduated in 2014 from Sand Springs. When she isn't at work playing with puppies, she enjoys time with her own pups: Merl, Hank, and Presley. She also likes to go hunting and fishing and spend time with her husband.
Holly is a native of Tulsa, OK. She graduated from Sapulpa High School and continued her education at Seminole State, where she received her Associates in Science. She later attended Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor’s in Animal Science. Once she completed her degree at OSU, she decided to give school another round and attended Tulsa Community College for the Veterinary Technician program. She completed her Veterinary Technician License (RVT) in 2016, and started working at Hammond Animal Hospital soon afterwards. In her free time, she enjoys playing and coaching sports, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of the family dogs – Brock and Silas.
After raising 4 wonderfully rambunctious children, Kathy went back to school and earned her second degree as a Veterinary Technician. The first was a degree in business from OSU (Go Pokes!). After passing national and state boards and becoming a registered technician, she started her 17 year (and counting) career in Tulsa. She has been a volunteer in the Education Department at the Tulsa Zoo for 27 years. There seems to be a theme of wackiness in her life. At last count there are 4 children, 3 extremely attractive daughters and son-in-laws, 1 unsuspecting daughter-in-law to be, 1 adorable grandson, 1 cute grandchild on the way (ultrasounds don’t lie!), multiple grandpets and some cats of her own here and there.
